Permanent Full-Time (Seasonal Hours)
Compensation: $24.00–$27.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Hours of Work
- September through May: Up to 30 hours per week
- May through September: Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Evening and weekend work may be required based on program schedules.
- Participation in an on-call rotation during camp sessions and special events may be required.
Reports To: Assistant Camp Director Key: Horseshoe Valley Camp Frith does not provide on-site staff accommodations. Applicants must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to and from camp each day. This is a permanent year-round position supporting camps, respite services, retreats, rentals, and outdoor recreation programming.

Horseshoe Valley Camp Frith is a welcoming retreat and outdoor recreation facility dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for neurodivergent children, youth, and adults. We provide camp-based 1:1 respite services, day camps, retreats, outdoor education, and adventure-based programming. Position Summary The Adventure Program Facilitator is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating a wide variety of outdoor recreation and adventure programs throughout the year. Working closely with the Assistant Camp Director, this position ensures all activities are engaging, inclusive, and delivered to the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Adventure Programming
- Plan and lead safe,
engaging, and inclusive outdoor recreation programs.
- Adapt activities to meet the unique needs and abilities of participants.

Equipment & Risk Management
- Complete daily inspections of adventure equipment.
- Maintain equipment inventories.
- Complete risk assessments before activities.
- Ensure all activities comply with industry safety standards.
Participant Support
- Support neurodivergent individuals and participants with diverse abilities.
- Build positive relationships with participants and families.
- Respond appropriately to behavioural and medical concerns.
Program Development
- Assist with creating new outdoor recreation experiences.
- Support retreats, rentals, respite programs, and special events.
- Assist with staff training and mentoring seasonal staff.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain program equipment and storage areas.
- Participate in emergency response procedures.
- Complete documentation and incident reports.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Assistant Camp Director.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience leading outdoor recreation or adventure-based programming.
- Experience working with children, youth, or adults in recreation, education, or camp settings.
- Experience supporting neurodivergent individuals or individuals with disabilities.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification.
- High Ropes Certification through CUI or Adventureworks, or willingness to obtain before employment.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
- Clean Driver's Abstract.
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
Preferred
- Postsecondary education in Outdoor Recreation, Outdoor Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Child & Youth Care, Education, Kinesiology, or related field.
- Mountain biking instruction experience.
- Snow sports experience.
- ATV or off-road vehicle experience.
- Wilderness First Aid certification.
- Experience developing inclusive recreation programs.
Working Conditions

- Working at heights on challenge course elements.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.
