Reporting to the Manager, Web & Multimedia, this position has overall responsibility for ensuring website content is up to date and accessible to CIRO’s diverse stakeholders and website visitors. In this role you will act as the primary bridge between internal business units and our public facing digital platform. Responsibilities include structuring and publishing new content, changes to site navigation or structure, optimizations for search engines, ensuring the accessibility of the website, and coordination with Information Technology Services. The Web Specialist also works with CIRO Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to help them turn web communications into effective digital campaigns. Own the end-to-end web publishing process, verifying that incoming content integrates seamlessly onto the website ensuring content accuracy and timely publications Guide and publish content received from business units through Content Management System (CMS) editorial workflow ensuring the layout and structure remain consistent and aligned with CIRO’s visual identity guidelines and web standards Audit and optimize the HTML produced by CMS editor ensuring semantic markup and responsive layouts that perform flawlessly across all modern browsers and devices Uphold Accessibility Standards across website content ensuring all web content meets WCAG accessibility guidelines Audit and remediate PDF documents ensuring they are fully accessible for assistive technology users Maintain the integrity of the website’s hierarchy by accurately configuring the menus, sidebar navigations and breadcrumbs when publishing pages Work closely with the communications team and various business units to ensure all website content is current, relevant and showcases CIRO initiatives and programs Execute on retention and governance workflows defined by the Website Governance Committee Audit and manage site content, proactively recommend structural,
stylistic and navigational improvements ensuring alignment with CIRO’s visual identity guidelines and web standards Produce periodic web analytics reports to inform decisions and recommendations to both the communications team and business team subject matter experts Deliver recommendations to optimize web content for search, accessibility and user experience Create and publish engaging internal posts, articles on the organization wide intranet to drive employee engagement Participate in steering committees and working groups regarding the corporate website What You Bring
Must-have: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Computer Science, or a related field Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in web design, web development, or related digital communication role Experience with Content Management Systems (i.e. Drupal) Experience as a subject matter expert with respect to web technologies, information architecture, structured data and digital content In-depth knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript User experience design, and knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, AODA) Knowledge of document accessibility and remediation (i.e. PDF) Knowledge of search engine optimization and design tools Experience in dealing with confidential information in a sensitive manner Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities Nice to have: Experience in a financial services environment would be considered an asset Ability to work under pressure with variable priorities and tight deadlines Strong time management skills, including ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple deadlines Self-starter, proactive, creative and eager to learn Strong listening skills with an ability to interpret information and translate into web and print materials Ability to plan production schedule and workflow Use of project management tools (JIRA, Microsoft Planner) to efficiently manage work with diverse teams across the organization Knowledge of securities/financial services industry or regulatory environment Understanding of regulatory terminology Ability to work independently while ensuring appropriate approvals and engagement with project teams Ability to work with a high volume of content Strong listening skills with an ability to interpret information and translate that into project deliverables Ability to work with, or communicate in both French and English What we offer:
