Architectural Drafter / Designer – AutoCAD & Revit

Robert Designs Inc. is seeking an experienced Architectural Drafter / Designer to join our growing design team.

This is a full-time, in-person position. This role is not remote or hybrid.

We are looking for someone capable of taking ownership of architectural drawing packages from initial site measurements through to a coordinated set of drawings suitable for municipal building permit submission.

Our projects include residential renovations and additions, new homes, commercial interiors, multi-unit residential projects, and larger commercial/industrial projects.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Conducting in office measurements and accurately documenting existing buildings and site conditions
- Preparing existing-condition drawings from field measurements
- Developing architectural drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Producing complete building permit drawing packages for municipal submission
- Preparing floor plans, foundation plans, roof plans, elevations, building sections and construction details
- Preparing demolition and proposed construction plans
- Developing wall assemblies and construction details
- Preparing door and window schedules
- Incorporating applicable Ontario Building Code requirements into drawing packages
- Preparing barrier-free, life-safety and code-related drawing information where applicable
- Coordinating architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical and other consultants
- Responding to drawing revisions and municipal permit-review comments
- Maintaining accurate, organized and professional drawing sets




- Working collaboratively with our interior design and architectural design team

Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience with Revit is strongly preferred
- Previous professional experience producing architectural or construction drawings
- Ability to accurately measure and document existing buildings
- Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial construction
- Ability to produce clear, coordinated and technically accurate drawings
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage drawing packages with increasing independence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced design environment
- Must be available to work in person

Assets The following experience or qualifications would be considered significant assets:
- BCIN qualification
- Licensed Architect or architectural professional background
- Experience preparing drawings for municipal building permit submissions
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
- Commercial and industrial building experience
- Experience with millwork / cabinetry drawings and detailing
- Experience preparing interior design construction drawings
- Reflected ceiling plans, finish plans and interior elevations
- Experience coordinating with structural and MEP consultants




- SketchUp and/or 3D visualization experience

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is more than a production drafter. The ideal candidate understands how buildings are put together, can identify missing information, can work through technical design problems, and is comfortable progressing a project from site documentation through to a complete permit drawing package.

The role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of architectural and interior design projects and to take on increasing project responsibility as experience and capability are demonstrated.

Job Type: Full-time

Work Location: In person

Compensation: $25.00–$33.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.Higher compensation within the posted range will be considered for candidates with BCIN qualifications for house & small buildings, advanced Revit capability, demonstrated experience independently producing permit-ready drawing packages, and significant commercial architectural experience.
