Arena Caretaker / Ice Maintenance & Cleaning Contractor

Location: Diamond Jubilee Recreation Centre (Dickson Arena) – Spruce View, Alberta. We are located about 45 minutes south west of Red Deer, Alberta or about 25 minutes west of Innisfail, Alberta. We are very small community/hamlet. Our arena serves the local community members with hockey and skating in the winter months. We are a single surface rink with an Olympia Zamboni. Our arena was built in 1980.

Employment Term: October 1st to March 31st (Winter Season Only)

(Rate based on past contractor experience — flexible depending on performance and scope)

Estimated Hours:

- Weekdays: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Weekends: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM

(Hours vary depending on rentals and events) This is seasonal employment running from October to March, ideal for an experienced individual interested in working with the arena over multiple winter seasons.

Pay will be based on experience and knowledge of arena operations.

The successful applicant must:

- Be capable of daily travel to/from the facility (especially in winter conditions — no transportation assistance provided)
- Be available evenings and weekends

No employee benefits are provided Part time coverage is available through a returning subcontractor if needed for specific days

Potential for multi-season renewal

Responsibilities:

- Operate and maintain Zamboni / ice resurfacer
- Clean and maintain high traffic areas.



We have other staff for cleaning so just spot washing and clean up is required.
- Ensure the arena is clean, safe, and operational for all rentals and events

Qualifications:

- Ice maintenance experience (Zamboni or Olympia) preferred; training can be arranged
- Strong self-motivation and reliability
- Physically fit and capable of janitorial/light maintenance work
- Must provide: -Consent to a background check (due to working in an environment where minors may be present)
- Live locally. Relocation is the applicants responsibility if hired.
