Responsibilities
- Safely remove, contain, and dispose of asbestos-containing materials in accordance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations.
- Prepare work sites by setting up containment barriers, decontamination units, and necessary safety signage.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to perform demolition, removal, and restoration tasks related to asbestos abatement projects.
- Conduct thorough cleaning of work areas post-abatement to ensure all residues are properly eliminated.
- Assist with inspection and testing procedures to verify the complete removal of asbestos materials.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, safety procedures followed, and waste disposal records.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines are met while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Requirements
- WHIMIS, Asbestos abatement training, fit testing, etc.
- Prior experience in construction or restoration work is highly preferred; familiarity with asbestos abatement processes is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and other construction-related equipment safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques used in hazardous material removal and site restoration.
- Strong physical stamina to perform demanding tasks including lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Excellent attention to detail to follow safety protocols meticulously and ensure thorough cleanup.
- Valid certifications related to asbestos handling or environmental safety are advantageous but not required; training will be provided if necessary.
- Commitment to working safely at all times while maintaining productivity.
