THE OPPORTUNITY
Fueling Brains Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Teacher – Senior Preschool (Movement) to join our New Brighton campus.
Working with children ages 4–6, you will collaborate with the classroom teaching team to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that supports children's physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development.
The Movement program incorporates purposeful movement, active play, gross-motor development, and physical learning experiences into the children's day. We are looking for an educator who is confident working with larger class sizes, has experience supporting neurodivergent children and diverse learning needs, and can adapt their approach to meet the individual needs of each child.
This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic and collaborative Early Childhood Educator who is passionate about helping children learn, develop, and thrive.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the planning and implementation of engaging, developmentally appropriate programming for children ages 4–6.
- Facilitate and support movement-based learning experiences, including active play, gross-motor activities, games, and physical development.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and classroom team to deliver high-quality early learning experiences.
- Support neurodivergent children and children with diverse learning needs through inclusive and responsive teaching practices.
- Adapt activities and classroom approaches based on children's individual strengths, interests, and developmental needs.
- Effectively supervise and support larger groups of preschool-aged children while maintaining active supervision.
- Implement positive behaviour guidance strategies that support emotional regulation, independence, and social development.
- Support classroom routines, transitions, meals, outdoor play, and other daily activities.
- Observe children's development and contribute to classroom planning and documentation.
- Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Ensure children's health, safety, and well-being are maintained throughout the day.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:
- Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 2 or Level 3 certification is required.
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably ages 4–6.
- Experience supporting neurodivergent children and/or children with diverse learning needs.
- Experience working effectively with larger classroom or group sizes.
- Strong understanding of child development and positive behaviour guidance.
- Confidence facilitating physical activity and movement-based learning experiences.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt effectively within a busy and dynamic classroom environment.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification,
or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to provide required background and vulnerable sector checks.
