We are looking for an Automation Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and optimization of automated manufacturing equipment and control systems on the afternoon shift from 2:00pm-10:00pm. This hands-on role involves working with robotics, PLCs, sensors, and electro-mechanical machinery to ensure reliable production performance. The successful candidate will troubleshoot equipment issues, perform preventive maintenance and repairs, assist with automation projects and system upgrades, and collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Availability: This position is open and accepting applications

Shift: Monday- Friday | 2:00pm-10:00pm. The position we are hiring is for the afternoon shift, although the first few weeks of training will take place from 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Key Responsibilities
- Daily troubleshooting on Automated Assembly Line

- Perform Preventative Maintenance on Assembly Line

- Control and maintain spare part management including change management

- Manage setup/changeover process on automation specific equipment

- Perform ongoing corrective actions for failed parts





- Periodically run production equipment for prototyping purposes

- Installation of improved tooling or equipment to existing automation equipment

- Conceptualize and build: racks, shelving, storage structures, guarding (methods, materials will be explained)

- Perform pickups and/or deliveries at local shops

- Review machine data on a daily basis.

- Define resulting actions together with Production, Automation and Quality department

Education & Qualified Experience

Required

- Post-secondary education in Process/Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

- Must have 5+ years direct experience in related field with technical experience in the optimization and operation of automation equipment

- Hands on experience with Automation systems/equipment, PLC’s/HMI, robots controls and associated programming software

Skills and Abilities
- Proficient with MS Office products

- Results-oriented, resourceful and proactive attitude

- Experience with Lock Out Tag Out Procedure

- Plant maintenance, 5.S., and operation knowledge

- Machining capabilities, an asset

- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems

- Must be organized

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; German considered an asset.

Physical Demands
- Prolonged sitting, with regular opportunities to change positions (e.g., standing, stretching, use of height-adjustable desks).

- Occasional standing, walking,



or moving within office and manufacturing areas.

- Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving materials or equipment (office supplies, documents, components, or tools), typically up to 10–25 lbs depending on task.

- Occasional crouching, kneeling, bending, or stooping to access machinery, components, or work surfaces.

- Frequent use of hands and fingers for fine motor tasks, including assembly, typing, or tool operation.

- Occasional operation of machinery or equipment requiring hand/arm coordination.

- Sustained visual attention and concentration required for both computer-based and hands-on tasks.

- Ability to maintain focus and perform detailed tasks for extended periods.

- Occasional exposure to varying temperatures, noise, or vibration on the manufacturing floor.

- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures at all times.

Health and Safety Responsibility
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company safety policies and procedures.

- Wear required PPE at all times.

- Report hazards, injuries, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.

- Use equipment, machinery, and tools safely and do not bypass safety devices.

- Follow all machine guarding and lockout/tagout procedures where applicable.

- Maintain a clean and safe work environment (good housekeeping).

- Participate in required safety training and meetings.

- Follow all ESD requirements and wear CSA-approved footwear.

- Adhere to emergency procedures and report incidents promptly.

- Exercise the right to refuse unsafe work when appropriate.
