Automotive Technician / 310S Licensed Mechanic
Job Type: Full-Time
Position: Automotive Service Technician / Licensed Mechanic
Experience: Previous automotive shop experience required
About the Position
We are looking for an experienced, reliable, and skilled Automotive Technician / Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of automotive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and inspections while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general automotive mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle problems
- Perform oil changes, fluid services, and routine maintenance
- Inspect, mount, balance, rotate, and repair tires as applicable
- Perform brake inspections, repairs, and replacements
- Diagnose and repair steering and suspension systems
- Perform wheel alignment-related inspections and repairs
- Diagnose and repair engine and drivability concerns
- Perform engine, transmission, drivetrain, and related repairs
- Diagnose and repair starting and charging systems
- Diagnose electrical and electronic issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment
- Perform battery, alternator, starter, and electrical system testing
- Perform cooling system and heating system repairs
- Perform exhaust, emissions, fuel, and engine-management system diagnostics and repairs
- Complete vehicle inspections and identify required repairs
- Use scan tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hand tools, and shop equipment safely and correctly
- Complete preventative maintenance and manufacturer-recommended services
- Accurately document inspections, diagnoses, parts, labour, and repairs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow manufacturer procedures, shop policies, occupational health and safety requirements, and applicable Ontario regulations
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations professionally
- Work efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
- Perform other automotive service and repair duties as required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ontario 310S Automotive Service Technician Certificate of Qualification (C of Q)
- Previous qualified experience working in an automotive repair shop required
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Experience with electrical and electronic vehicle systems
- Experience with tires, brakes, suspension, steering, and general maintenance
- Ability to use automotive diagnostic scan tools and shop equipment
- Strong understanding of automotive repair procedures and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, professional, and safety-conscious
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Valid driver's licence and a good driving record
- Ability to safely lift, handle, and work with automotive parts and equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional automotive repair experience
- Experience with modern diagnostic scan tools and computerized vehicle systems
- Experience servicing both domestic and import vehicles
- Experience with hybrid and/or electric vehicles is an asset
- Experience with ADAS systems and calibration is an asset
- Tire service and wheel alignment experience is an asset
- Experience in a high-volume automotive service environment is an asset
What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is a fully licensed 310S Automotive Service Technician who takes pride in their work, can accurately diagnose problems, performs repairs correctly the first time, and understands the importance of safety and customer service. We are looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking, organized, and able to work efficiently without compromising the quality of the repair.
Safety & Compliance The successful candidate must follow all applicable workplace health and safety requirements, use required personal protective equipment, and follow safe procedures when working with vehicles, lifts, tires, tools, fluids, batteries, and shop equipment.
Ontario 310S certification is required for this position. Automotive Service Technician is a compulsory trade in Ontario, and individuals performing compulsory-trade work must have the appropriate authorization under Ontario's skilled-trades legislation.
Red Seal certification is considered an asset but is not required if the candidate holds a valid Ontario 310S Certificate of Qualification.
