Overview

We are seeking a skilled AZ/DZ Driver/Operator to join our team. This role involves operating commercial vehicles, heavy machinery, and performing manual labour tasks to support construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with commercial trucks, heavy equipment, and construction operations, along with a strong work ethic and commitment to workplace safety.

Prior knowledge of construction equipment such as Caterpillar machinery, excavators, graders, loaders, backhoes, and dozers is highly desirable. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects while developing skills in commercial vehicle operation, heavy equipment operation, and construction.

Duties

- Operate AZ/DZ commercial vehicles, including dump trucks, tandem trucks, tractor-trailers, and other company vehicles, to safely transport equipment, materials, aggregate, and construction supplies to and from job sites.
- Operate heavy machinery including dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, graders, and paving equipment with precision and safety.
- Perform site preparation, grading, excavation, paving, material handling, and other construction tasks as required.
- Safely load, unload, transport, and secure heavy equipment, materials, and construction supplies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of commercial vehicles, trailers, and heavy equipment to ensure safe operating condition.
- Maintain required driver logs, inspection reports, delivery records, and other transportation documentation.
- Follow all applicable transportation regulations, weight restrictions, load-securement requirements, and company safety policies.
- Operate commercial vehicles in a variety of environments, including active construction sites, gravel roads, urban roads, and highways.
- Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of trucks, trailers, and equipment, and identify and report mechanical issues or deficiencies.
- Assist with horizontal drilling and other specialized construction activities.




- Support project teams by moving materials and assisting with site setup, cleanup, and general labour activities.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials using appropriate procedures and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure vehicles and equipment are properly secured when not in use.
- Collaborate with operators, labourers, supervisors, and other team members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a strong awareness of hazards associated with commercial vehicle and heavy equipment operation.

Skills & Qualifications

- Valid AZ or DZ driver's licence with a clean or acceptable driving record.
- Proven experience operating commercial vehicles in a construction or industrial environment.
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, graders, and paving machinery.
- Mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot minor issues and perform basic maintenance on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Experience safely loading, transporting, unloading, and securing heavy equipment and construction materials.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle inspections, daily logs, and transportation regulations.
- Knowledge of horizontal drilling techniques and construction site safety standards is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and the ability to adapt to different project requirements.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in active construction environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to secure work practices.
- Ability to perform physical labour and assist with construction activities when required.
- Flexibility to travel between job sites and work varying hours as project requirements dictate.
