Locke Cycle & Social House is looking for passionate, energetic Barista & Cycle Associates to join our team. We are a hybrid community hub where specialty coffee culture meets a love for cycling.

In this role, you will deliver exceptional hospitality, craft high-quality beverages, and connect with our community of cyclists and locals. Whether you are already an experienced cyclist who knows their way around a bike, or someone with a keen interest in cycling culture who is excited to be trained in basic bike repair and gear knowledge, you’ll play a key role in keeping both our guests and their rides fueled and ready.

Core Responsibilities

Beverage & Hospitality

- Greet community members, take orders, process payments, and serve drinks and food items.
- Prepare high-quality coffee, espresso, teas, smoothies, cocktails, and beer.
- Operate, maintain, and dial in coffee equipment (espresso machines, grinders, batch brewers).
- Recommend menu items based on guest preferences and answer questions about beverages, treats, and food options.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workspace throughout the day in a fast-paced environment.

Cycling & Community Support

- Engage with the local cycling community, sharing enthusiasm for routes, gear, and ride culture.
- Assist guests with basic bike inquiries, accessories, and gear options.
- Perform basic bike maintenance and quick-fix repairs (e.g., tire inflations, tube replacements,



chain lubing, simple adjustments) following training or existing experience.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming social space for both walk-in guests and cycling groups.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Coffee Experience: Previous experience working as a barista in a fast-paced cafe environment; proficient in espresso extraction, milk steaming, and beverage prep.
- Cycling Passion / Openness to Learn: A genuine interest in cycling culture, with prior bike repair knowledge or a robust willingness to undergo hands-on training for basic bike maintenance.
- Certifications:
- Smart Serve Certification (Required for beer/cocktail service).
- Food Handler Certification (Required or open to obtaining upon hire).
- Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, welcoming attitude, even during peak rush hours.
- Multitasking: Ability to manage orders, stay organized, and handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
