Overview La Reine Cafe is hiring two experienced, friendly, and dependable baristas to join our team.

We are a French-inspired café with Arabic influences, offering halal food, specialty beverages, pastries, and desserts in a welcoming, family-friendly environment. French or Arabic language skills and familiarity with French café culture, Arabic hospitality, or halal food service are considered strong assets. Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome.

We are looking for experienced baristas who can independently prepare professional-quality espresso beverages, properly steam milk, and consistently prepare lattes, mochas, and cappuccinos. Applicants should also be willing to learn current chai-based specialty beverages. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate their beverage-preparation skills during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and serve professional-quality espresso beverages, including lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, americanos, macchiatos, and other specialty drinks
- Properly steam and texture milk and produce consistent basic latte art
- Operate and clean a commercial espresso machine and properly adjust and dial in the coffee grinder
- Follow the café’s halal food-handling procedures and accurately answer customers’ questions about halal menu items
- Take customer orders and process payments accurately using the POS system
- Help customers understand the menu, explain the café’s French-Arabic concept, and make appropriate selections
- Serve and safely handle coffee, tea, smoothies, pastries, desserts, and light café food, and develop sufficient menu knowledge to describe products and make recommendations to customers
- Accurately communicate available ingredient and allergen information, referring questions to a supervisor when uncertain
- Provide friendly and professional service to customers from diverse backgrounds
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of beverage stations, equipment, counters, and dining areas
- Restock coffee, milk, cups, ingredients,



and other supplies throughout each shift
- Follow all food-safety, hygiene, sanitation, and cleaning procedures
- Assist with opening and closing duties
- Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining beverage quality and presentation
- Cooperate with kitchen and front-of-house team members

Qualifications

- Previous professional barista experience is required
- Ability to independently prepare consistent, professional-quality espresso beverages
- Strong milk-steaming skills and the ability to produce consistent milk texture and basic latte art
- Experience operating and cleaning commercial espresso machines and coffee grinders
- French or Arabic language skills are considered strong assets
- Familiarity with French café culture, Arabic hospitality, or halal food service is an asset
- Friendly, dependable, professional, and customer-focused
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Comfortable working efficiently in a fast-paced café environment
- Basic math, POS, payment-processing, and cash-handling skills
- Able to stand for extended periods and complete routine cleaning duties
- Available for flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Food Safety Certification is an asset
