At BioTroopers Inc, we offer a unique STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and

Math) educational experience to nurture curiosity in kids about the world and all things biology. Our curriculum has been developed for elementary school kids to do fun, hands-on biology experiments and learn concepts which will actually stick!

As a Biology After-school Instructor at BioTroopers, you will inspire the next generation of scientists to explore their world, ask questions and discover answers using engaging and fun hands-on experiments in topics ranging from microbiology to paleontology.

This role is for our new storefront location in Burlington.

Job Summary

● As a BioTrooper Instructor, you will use the scientific methodology of asking questions, hypothesis generation, testing and making conclusions using hands-on experiments and activities, that will encourage kids to explore the world around them.

● This role requires you to travel to a school to conduct after- school programs in person. Availability from 3:30-5PM is essential.

● Role can be extended to in-class workshops and camps based on performance.

Responsibilities

● Engage grade 1-6 kids in hands-on biology activities and experiments using a pre-planned curriculum in a 1h-1.5h lesson.

● Sessions are high energy and involve supporting kids as needed with experiments,



and also some demonstrations- it's important for kids to have fun while learning biology, so being energetic is essential

● Be prepared to attend a training session before lessons kick off to ensure you have the subject matter expertise to support a class

Qualifications

● Experience working with children (Grade 1-6) is a must.

● Teach using a thoughtfully designed curriculum, adding your own creativity and personality to make learning engaging, encourage curiosity, and inspire questions.

● Background in medical sciences, biology or a science-related field or previous experience working in a STEM setting is a huge asset.

● Experience in music, theatre and arts and debate/public speaking is a huge asset. We encourage our instructors to make science understandable to kids using other mediums.

● Be able to commute to our location in Burlington

● Fun and outgoing personality

● Complete vulnerable sector check for those over 18y

Hourly rates will be determined based on qualifications.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
