Job Summary

We operate a growing second-hand electronics retail chain alongside a 30+ location franchise restaurant business. We're bringing our bookkeeping in-house, and this is the first hire into that function.

You'll start by owning full-cycle bookkeeping for the retail business — one store today, four by early next year — including sales and payout reconciliation across our storefront, our Shopify site, and eBay. Within your first month, you'll also take on payroll administration (ADP) for our restaurant locations.

Alongside the books, you'll take on administrative work and projects that support the wider group. This is not a data entry role — we want someone who understands what the numbers mean, notices what looks wrong, and can be trusted to deliver without close supervision. For the right person, there's a path toward a management role as the scope and team grows.

Duties

- Full-cycle bookkeeping for our retail entities in Sage 50 — AP, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
- Reconcile daily sales and payouts across in-store, Shopify, and eBay, including processing fees, marketplace fees, and shipping.
- Maintain accurate inventory and cost records, working alongside our POS system.
- Prepare HST filings and the supporting schedules that back them up.
- Produce timely, accurate store-level and consolidated reporting.
- Flag transactions and scenarios that fall outside of normal — before they become problems.
- Administer payroll (ADP) for our restaurant locations — starting within your first month.
- Take on administrative work and special projects that push the wider group forward.




- Help us adopt better tools and more automated, AI-enabled ways of working.

Qualifications

- Full-cycle bookkeeping experience, ideally in a retail or inventory-based business — required.
- Hands-on accounting software experience; Sage 50 strongly preferred.
- Experience reconciling e-commerce or marketplace sales (Shopify, eBay, Amazon) is a significant asset.
- Bookkeeping across multiple related businesses is a significant asset.
- Solid HST filing experience and comfort with financial and data analysis.
- A explicit communicator who takes direction well and returns accurate work — people will be counting on you.
- Willingness to learn is essential; experience with AI tools is valuable but attitude matters more.
- Enthusiastic, adaptable, and willing to buckle down and go above and beyond when it counts.

Growth & Review We'll formally review scope and compensation at the 6-month mark. That review is also our checkpoint for whether the group is ready to move onto a more robust accounting platform and bring additional related businesses under this role — so strong performance here has a direct line to what comes next.

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
