Smugglers Trail is growing! We're an award winning brewery located In North Langley and are looking for an experienced brewer to join our growing team. Ideally someone excited to utilize their experience to fill an important role here at the brewery, someone keen to make their mark and utilize their existing skills.

You’ll have the opportunity to grow as the business does, and help our small brewing team with Brewing, cellaring, yeast management and all packaging procedures. As a Smuggler we ask for your outstanding attention to quality standards set by the Head brewer and to come hungry to learn the ins and outs of our small brewery.

With new equipment and an expanding sales team in house we're seeing increased sales and production this year, shaping up to be our busiest one yet.

The Brewer position involves but is not limited to:

● Handling raw materials, moving pallets and lifting up to 55lbs throughout the day. Moving pallets with a forklift, storing packaged product and materials.

● Brewhouse operations such as mashing, lautering, boiling, hop additions and wort cooling. Mashing out, assisting the brewer.

● Cleaning and sanitation of all vessels, hoses and equipment.

● Yeast cropping/pitching, beer transfers, tank CIP, dry hopping, parts and hose maintenance, filling casks and firkins.

● Cleaning canning line, kegs/casks.

● Operation of our 3 ton truck to run pallets of packed products to our nearby warehouse.

● Operating the canning line and running packout.

● Daily adherence to standard operating procedures when completing tasks.

● Follow safety procedures and correct use of PPE.





● Keeping diligent production records in adherence to company and government requirements.

● Continually maintain all beer production areas, beer and raw material storage spaces, walkways and floor spaces.

● Follow daily and weekly production/cleaning schedules.

● Cleaning the production area, scrubbing floors, sweeping on a daily basis. And basically being a go to for anything we need!

● Occasionally assisting front of house staff with product introduction, casks, brewing specialty casks on the pilot system and maybe the odd festival.

Must be motivated, physically fit, have a strong work ethic and be a team player. Must have prior unsupervised brewing experience, must be competent operating a forklift and have knowledge off all daily brewing practices. Degree in brewing science, canning line operation as well as experience with filtration equipment is a plus.

Our brewery staff is quite small so getting along is paramount. Preference will be given to prior experience but we are willing to train for the right candidate, priority will be given for locals, not accepting overseas applications.
