B-Legacy Inc. is seeking a reliable, responsible, and hands-on Building Caretaker / Janitorial & Maintenance Worker for a residential building in Thompson, Manitoba.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and general condition of the building and common areas. This position combines janitorial cleaning, basic building maintenance, minor repairs, seasonal outdoor maintenance, inspections, record keeping, and prompt response to operational requests.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, able to work independently, and comfortable taking responsibility for the day-to-day care of a residential building.

Responsibilities

- Perform daily cleaning of common areas, hallways, entrances, stairways, elevators, washrooms, laundry areas, and other assigned areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and remove garbage as required.
- Clean and disinfect washrooms and common facilities.
- Perform floor care, including machine scrubbing and periodic floor maintenance.
- Replenish washroom and janitorial supplies.
- Perform basic building maintenance and minor repairs.
- Identify and report plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, or other building issues.
- Conduct regular inspections of common areas and report safety, cleanliness, damage, or maintenance concerns.
- Maintain accurate cleaning, inspection, maintenance, and service records.
- Perform seasonal outdoor maintenance as required.
- Assist with snow and ice control during the winter season.
- Keep entrances, walkways, stairs, and other assigned exterior areas clean and safe.




- Respond promptly to requests from B-Legacy Inc. and Manitoba Housing.
- Report emergencies, unusual conditions, damage, or security concerns immediately.
- Follow building safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Work respectfully and professionally with residents, visitors, contractors, and management.
- Maintain the building in a clean, safe, orderly, and presentable condition at all times.

Requirements
- Previous experience in janitorial services, building caretaking, property maintenance, or a similar position.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong knowledge of professional cleaning procedures and sanitation practices.
- Basic knowledge of minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building repairs.
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and basic hand tools.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Robust attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, responsible, and trustworthy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate daily logs and records.
- Ability to respond promptly to urgent operational requests.
- Availability 7 days per week and flexibility according to building operational needs.




- Physically capable of performing cleaning, maintenance, lifting, and other building-care duties.
- Must be comfortable working in a multi-unit residential building and interacting professionally with residents.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Successful candidate must be able to provide required background checks, including Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check, where applicable.
- WHMIS or other relevant safety training is an asset.
- Previous experience working in a residential or multi-unit building is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence is an asset.

The successful candidate must be dependable and prepared to handle a variety of cleaning and basic maintenance responsibilities while communicating promptly with B-Legacy Inc. when additional assistance or specialized service is required.

Compensation

Starting at $2,500 per month.

Compensation is based on the responsibilities of the position, experience, reliability, and suitability for the role.
