We are currently looking for an experienced Coach & School Bus Mechanic for the Meadowbank Mine.
Under the direction of the Maintenance Foreman, the Coach & School Bus Mechanic will be responsible for the inspection, diagnostics, repair, modification, improvement, and preventive maintenance of transport trucks and heavy trailers used on the mine site.
Main responsabilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, scheduled inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on coach buses and school buses;
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, steering, suspension, and braking systems;
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, HVAC, hydraulic, and air systems;
- Perform vehicle safety inspections, identify defects, and complete required corrective repairs;
- Use electronic diagnostic software and OEM systems to troubleshoot vehicle issues;
- Conduct road tests to verify repairs, vehicle performance, and safe operation;
- Complete and maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, and inspection reports;
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as required;
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment;
- Ensure compliance with mine-site safety procedures, company policies, and applicable vehicle safety standards.
Requirements
- Hold a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Truck and Transport Mechanic, Truck and Coach Technician (Red Seal / 310T), or equivalent recognized certification;
- Previous experience maintaining diesel-powered buses, commercial vehicles, or heavy-duty equipment;
- Experience working on coach buses and/or school bus fleets is considered a strong asset;
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, braking, suspension, steering, electrical, HVAC, hydraulic, and air systems;
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills;
- Experience using electronic diagnostic software and OEM systems is considered an asset;
- Valid driver's license;
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a maintenance team;
- Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and regulatory compliance;
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and safely perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, kneeling, bending, and working in confined spaces;
- Ability to work in both shop and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions;
- Willingness to work on a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation, alternating day and night shifts (FIFO);
- First Aid certification is considered an asset;
- Previous experience on a mine site or in the mining industry is considered an asset.
Working Conditions and Benefits
- Permanent, full-time position;
- Hourly salary between 38.42$/h and 52.78$/h;
- Overtime at 1.5x for hours beyond 40 per week, weekends, and statutory holidays;
- 14/14 rotation schedule, 12-hour shifts (day and night);
- Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) transportation provided from Mirabel or Val-d’Or airports;
