Compensation: $22.00–$26.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Hours of Work

- September through May: Up to 30 hours per week
- May through September: Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Evening and weekend work will be required during camps, respite weekends, retreats, and special events.

Reports To: Assistant Camp Director Important: Horseshoe Valley Camp Frith does not provide overnight or on-site staff accommodations. Applicants must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to and from camp each day. This is a permanent year-round position supporting camps, respite services, retreats, and outdoor recreation programming. Evening and weekend work will be required based on program schedules.

About Horseshoe Valley Camp Frith

Horseshoe Valley Camp Frith is a welcoming retreat and outdoor recreation facility dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for neurodivergent, youth, and adults. We provide camp-based 1:1 respite services, day camps, retreats, outdoor education, and adventure-based programming.

Position Summary The Respite Support Worker provides direct support to youth, and adults with diverse developmental, behavioural, physical, and communication needs while participating in camp and community-based recreation programs. This role promotes independence, supports emotional regulation, and creates meaningful opportunities for learning, recreation, and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

Participant Support

- Provide direct 1:1 or small group support.
- Promote independence and implement support plans.
- Maintain dignity, privacy, and choice.

Personal Care
- Assist with hygiene, toileting, dressing, feeding, mobility,



and transfers as required.
- Administer medications when trained and authorized.

Recreation & Camp Programming
- Support participants in adventure programming, arts and crafts, nature programs, swimming, sports, campfires, outings, and special events.
- Adapt activities to individual needs.

Behaviour Support
- Use positive behaviour support strategies.
- Support emotional regulation and complete required documentation.

Health & Safety
- Ensure participant safety.
- Follow health and medication protocols.
- Complete incident reports.

Team Responsibilities
- Participate in training and meetings.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
- Perform additional duties assigned.

Qualifications

Required

- Experience supporting neurodivergent individuals or individuals with disabilities.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
- Clean Driver's Abstract.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Strong communication skills.
- Physically able to assist with participant care.

Preferred
- Diploma or Degree in DSW, CYC, SSW, Educational Assistant, Therapeutic Recreation, OTA/PTA, or related field.
- Experience providing respite services.
- Medication Administration training.
- CPI, UMAB, or similar certification.

Working Conditions
- Indoor and outdoor work year-round.
- Regular walking, lifting, bending, and assisting participants.
- Evening, weekend, and occasional overnight programming may be required.
