Purpose:
The Long-Haul Truck Driver transports goods safely and efficiently between Canada and the United States, ensuring on-time delivery while complying with all transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards. This role supports the company’s cross-border operations by maintaining professionalism, reliability, and a strong focus on road and freight safety.
Reports to:
This position reports to the Director of Fleet Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy-duty trucks to transport freight across Canada and the U.S.
- Plan routes, meet delivery schedules, and manage hours of service in compliance with federal and provincial/state regulations.
- Ensure accurate completion of bills of lading, logbooks, and other trip documentation.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Follow Canadian and U.S. transportation laws, including DOT and NSC regulations.
- Report defects, accidents, or violations promptly to dispatch or fleet management.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned trucks and trailers.
- Collaborate with the workshop team to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Interact professionally with clients, shippers, and receivers.
- Handle freight with care to prevent damage during loading, transport, and unloading.
- Communicate regularly with dispatch regarding trip progress, delays, and challenges.
- Support co-drivers in team driving situations when applicable.

Qualifications:
- Valid Class 1/A (Canada) Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement.
- Minimum 2 years of long-haul or cross-border driving experience is preferred.
- Clean driver’s abstract and criminal background check.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian and U.S. highway routes, border crossing procedures, and safety regulations.
- Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELDs) and navigation systems.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, overnight trips, weekends, and holidays.
