The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a Capital Planner to join the Department of Health and Social Services' Infrastructure Planning Division in Yellowknife.
This role supports the planning and management of health and social services infrastructure across the Northwest Territories, from hospitals and health centres to staff housing and other facilities. You will bring together capital planning, financial analysis and project coordination to help guide infrastructure investments in a complex and geographically diverse environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Facility Planning, you will support capital projects throughout their planning and delivery, including long-term infrastructure plans, capital estimates, financial forecasting, procurement and project administration. You will work closely with Health and Social Services authorities, other GNWT departments and regional partners to support informed and effective infrastructure investment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate financial and planning information for the Infrastructure Acquisition Plan, long-term capital needs assessments, capital plans and annual estimates.
- Prepare and analyze project estimates, budgets,
forecasts, expenditures and capital variance reports.
- Support the planning and implementation of health infrastructure and major equipment projects across the NWT.
- Manage capital budget and expenditure controls and prepare financial reports, submissions and supporting documentation.
- Support procurement and contract activities, including RFPs, tenders, evaluation processes and contractor performance monitoring.
- Coordinate with regional staff, project managers and other stakeholders to monitor project progress, manage risks and support effective project delivery.
Qualifications Required
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
- A degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business, or another relevant field, combined with three years of directly related experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
