Position summary

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter Foreman to lead our field crews. Reporting directly to the owner, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day execution of active projects, including work layout, crew scheduling, quality control, and site safety.

This is a working foreman position. The Carpenter Foreman is expected to perform carpentry alongside the crew while carrying responsibility for the overall progress and quality of the work.

Key responsibilities

- Plan, lay out, and sequence daily work to keep crews productive and on schedule
- Read and interpret construction drawings, and identify discrepancies before work proceeds
- Perform framing, roofing, decking, and finish carpentry as part of the crew
- Enforce all site safety requirements, including fall protection on all elevated work
- Order, schedule, and stage materials to avoid delays and shortages
- Coordinate with the owner, clients, general contractors, subtrades, and inspectors
- Track labour hours and material usage, and report schedule or budget concerns promptly
- Supervise, train, and mentor apprentices and less experienced carpenters

Qualifications




- Substantial carpentry experience in framing and roofing, including demonstrated experience supervising a crew
- Proven ability to read and work from construction drawings
- Valid Prince Edward Island driver's licence
- Current Fall Protection and Standard First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain both upon hire. Certification costs will be covered by the company
- Personal hand tools. All power tools and equipment are supplied
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, subtrades, and crew members

You do not need a Red Seal or a journeyperson ticket for this job. If you have run crews and you can do the work, we want to hear from you.

Considered an asset

- Equipment certifications such as aerial lift, forklift, or telehandler
- Experience with estimating or material take offs
- Comfort using a mobile device for site photographs, timesheets, and material lists

Compensation and conditions
- $32.00 to $35.00 per hour. Candidates with experience beyond this range are encouraged to apply, as compensation can be reviewed and negotiated
