Position Title: Cashier/Merchandiser

Department: Store Operations

Reports To: Assistant Store Manager / Store Manager

Position Summary The Cashier/Merchandiser is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by accurately processing customer transactions while maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor. This role supports the overall shopping experience by assisting with merchandising, replenishment, store presentation, and general operational tasks.

Because UHOME MART works closely with both English- and Mandarin-speaking customers and team members, this position requires strong communication skills in both English and Mandarin.

Key Responsibilities

- Welcome every customer in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
- Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, debit, credit card, gift card, and other approved payment methods according to company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked checkout area.
- Restock merchandise throughout assigned departments.
- Ensure shelves and displays remain neat, full, and properly faced throughout each shift.
- Build and maintain promotional displays as directed.
- Support inventory replenishment and merchandising initiatives.
- Assist customers by answering product questions and helping them locate merchandise.
- Communicate effectively with English- and Mandarin-speaking customers and team members.
- Assist with shopping cart collection and ensure carts are available for customers.
- Keep assigned aisles clean, organized, and free of empty boxes, packaging, and safety hazards.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
- Report damaged merchandise, safety concerns,



or operational issues to management promptly.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve daily operational goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Daily Duties
- Operate the POS system and complete customer transactions accurately.
- Balance the cash drawer and follow all cash handling procedures.
- Replenish merchandise throughout the day.
- Face products and recover assigned aisles.
- Remove cardboard, garbage, and packaging from the sales floor.
- Ensure shelves remain organized, clean, and fully stocked.
- Assist customers with locating products and answering basic questions.
- Keep checkout lanes clean and operational.
- Collect shopping carts from the parking lot and designated areas as assigned.
- Participate in opening, closing, and store recovery activities.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock organization when required.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is considered an asset but is not required.
- Must be bilingual and fluent in both English and Mandarin (spoken).
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Positive attitude with a customer-first mindset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Basic math and cash handling skills.
- Ability to follow company policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements




- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting.
- Ability to push and pull shopping carts and merchandise carts.
- Comfortable working in a quick-paced retail environment.
