Applications are now being accepted for Casual Educational Assistants in all our school communities across the Division. These positions are on-call and as-needed, offering a flexible chance to support students and staff.

Educational

Assistants support student learning in the classroom environment and other educational settings. These individuals ensure the students "come first" and have the support they need to create a positive, friendly and protected learning environment.

The Duties Of An Educational Assistant Are To

- Supporting students with special needs to promote student independence and student empowerment.
- Working closely with students to meet their learning needs and building strong foundations to create bright futures for all our students as "Students Come First".
- Performing physically demanding work including lifting up to 40 lbs, bending and twisting to perform student transfers, personal needs etc.
- Working collaboratively as a team member, along with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

The Successful Candidate Will Have The Desired Qualifications





- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent training/experience with robust interpersonal and communication skills.
- Candidates must have patience and compassion and enjoy working with children to create a fun, positive, safe learning environment.

Applicants not currently working for GSSD will be required to submit a recent (within the last six months) criminal record and vulnerable sector check acceptable to the Board of Education prior to offer of employment.
