This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Catastrophe Claims Advisor based in Canada.

As a Catastrophe Claims Advisor, you will manage moderate to highly complex property claims and help customers navigate challenging situations with clarity, empathy, and professionalism. You’ll investigate losses, assess coverage, negotiate settlements, and make sound decisions within established authority levels. The role combines technical claims expertise with solid customer service and negotiation skills.

You’ll work within a national catastrophe claims environment where claim volumes can be high and priorities can shift quickly. You’ll also provide guidance to Claims Assistants and contribute to improvements in claims processes and practices. This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while developing your expertise within a collaborative insurance environment.

Accountabilities:

- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle medium- to high-complexity claims through telephone and written communication.
- Review and interpret insurance policy wordings to determine applicable coverage, exclusions, reserves, and settlement requirements.
- Assess residential property losses and make accurate, fair, and timely claims decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Document claim files thoroughly, including investigation findings, evaluations, coverage decisions, settlement rationale, and customer communications.
- Process claim payments within established authority levels and ensure settlements are prompt, equitable, and properly supported.

- Negotiate effectively with insureds, claimants, insurers, contractors, and other relevant parties to achieve appropriate claim resolutions.
- Review, critique, and negotiate reconstruction estimates while ensuring proposed repairs and costs are reasonable and supported.
- Provide professional, respectful, and empathetic customer service throughout the claims journey, helping customers navigate complex and often stressful situations.





- Provide guidance and support to Claims Assistants and contribute expertise to the broader National Catastrophe Claims team.
- Manage a high-volume claims inventory, with approximately 125 or more pending claims, while maintaining productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
- Participate in queue responsibility and support national claims operations as required.

- Identify opportunities to improve claims policies, procedures, practices, and workflows, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Meet established productivity, quality, customer service, and performance objectives for the claims function.
- Adapt effectively to changing priorities and catastrophe-related workloads while maintaining sound judgment and attention to detail.

Requirements:

- 3–5 years of experience handling medium- to large-loss complex residential property claims.
- CIP designation or active enrollment toward the designation.
- Experience adjusting single-peril auto claims.
- IICRC certification or active enrollment is an asset.
- HAAG certification or active enrollment is an asset.

- Demonstrated ability to review, challenge, and negotiate reconstruction estimates.
- Proficiency with Xactimate and Guidewire.
- Strong understanding of property claims, catastrophe claims, insurance coverage, claims management, and settlement practices.

- Ability to manage a high-volume claims environment, including approximately 125+ pending claims.
- Strong investigation, analytical, negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and empathetically.

- Strong customer service skills and the ability to remain professional and compassionate during difficult customer interactions.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while collaborating effectively with claims teams and other stakeholders.




- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands while meeting performance and quality objectives.

- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
