Canada
MGI Construction Corp. is seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the company's financial strategy and operations. The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and will be responsible for financial planning, reporting, cash-flow management, risk management, budgeting, project financial controls, and long-term business strategy.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in the construction, infrastructure, engineering, contracting, or related industries, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex project-based financial operations and support profitable organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Develop and execute MGI's overall financial strategy in alignment with company objectives.
Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO and executive leadership team.
Lead long-term financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and business-performance analysis.
Establish financial targets, KPIs, and performance measurement systems.
Evaluate growth opportunities, acquisitions, investments, and major capital expenditures.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure appropriate accounting policies, controls, and procedures are maintained.
Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial close processes.
Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory obligations.
Work closely with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and qualified advisors.
Construction & Project Finance
Establish and monitor financial controls across MGI's construction projects.
Review project budgets, forecasts, cost-to-complete reports, margins, and cash requirements.
Partner with project management and estimating teams to identify financial risks and opportunities.
Monitor project profitability, change orders, billings, collections, subcontractor commitments, and work-in-progress.
Develop financial reporting that provides management with clear visibility into project and company performance.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Oversee company-wide cash-flow forecasting and liquidity management.
Develop strategies to optimize working capital and collections.
Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, bonding requirements, and other financial arrangements.
Ensure the company maintains sufficient liquidity to support ongoing projects and growth.
Risk Management & Internal Controls
Identify and mitigate financial, operational, contractual, and business risks.
Develop and maintain strong internal financial controls.
Review insurance, bonding, credit, and contractual financial exposures.
Establish procedures to protect company assets and reduce financial risk.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop the accounting and finance department.
Establish clear performance expectations and professional-development objectives.
Build a high-performing finance team capable of supporting a growing construction organization.
Collaborate with operations, estimating, procurement, project management, HR, and executive leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
CPA designation strongly preferred.
10 years of progressive financial-management experience, with significant senior leadership experience.
Experience as a CFO, VP Finance, Controller, or senior finance executive.
Strong construction, contracting, infrastructure, engineering, or project-based business experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience with project accounting, job costing, WIP, forecasting, and construction financial reporting.
Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, taxation, financial controls, and corporate finance.
Experience managing banking relationships, financing, bonding, and insurance programs.
Advanced proficiency in financial systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Excel/Office.

Pay: $95,906.63-$168,994.62 per year
