- 1.0FTE Child and Family Counsellor: 0.6FTE Family Preservation and Reunification, 0.2FTE Youth Services, 0.2FTE Parent-Teen Conflict
Please note that these are term positions to cover leaves of absence, and will be offered on a month to month basis. Both positions are 35 hours per week, and NOYFSS is a unionized agency through CUPE BC.
JOB SUMMARY:
· Assesses clients and their families. Develops, implements and evaluates family-based intervention plans; participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of client service plans with the integrated case management team
JOB DUTIES:
· Interviews clients and their families, prepares case histories, assesses problems and outlines services provided by the organization. Provides information on and referral to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required
· Develops family-based intervention plans; participates in the development of client service plans with the integrated case management team
· Plans, prepares and conducts individual, group or family counselling session using person-centred, strength-based, trauma-informed therapeutic techniques drawn from multiple theoretical frameworks. Provides crisis intervention and ongoing assessment as required
· Provides support and guidance to clients and families; facilitates healthy family communication,
assists clients in making positive changes and solving problems related to family functioning
· Provides parenting skill building to clients on issues such as parent-child interaction, child development, discipline and guidance, and behaviour management
· Provides emotional support and feedback to clients
· Participates in integrated case management meetings or to meet with professionals and social workers on a regular basis to report clients’ activities and progress, discuss case planning issues and concerns, and evaluate the effectiveness of the counselling intervention
· Maintains program documentation as per agency and accreditation standards/requirements. Produces reports such as intake, progress and discharge in accordance with established policies and guidelines
· Liaises with other community service providers, professionals to coordinate services and to ensure that interests of clients are considered in decisions affecting them. Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments as required
· Performs other related duties as required
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:
· Communicates, collaborates and problem solves with program personnel in an open, fair, and transparent way using the practice of collective accountability
· Adheres to NOYFSS Code of Conduct and Ethics
· Conducts self as a positive role model to clients and to the community
· Strictly observes the confidentiality of client information
· Participates in regular Staff Meetings, Supervision, Program Consultation, and Performance Evaluations/Appraisals
· Inputs data into web-based program
· Operates within the financial limitations of programs and organization
· Maintains a safe, respectful, secure and professional work environment
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s degree in a related human/social service field
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
- Two (2) years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s license (with no restrictions)
- Suitable personal driving record and driver factor report
- A reliable, safety inspected vehicle with appropriate insurance
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (provided by NOYFSS): · Criminal Record Check through the Criminal Records Review Program
· FOIPPA Foundations Certification
· NOYFSS-Specific Training (Orientation, OHS, Foundational)
- Minimum of 3 reference checks, inclusive of most recent employer / supervisor
Pay: $42.47-$53.67 per hour
