Description:

Counselling Services provides culturally responsive counselling support to children, youth, and families through an Indigenous trauma-informed framework that integrates counselling, cultural, and land-based approaches. Grounded in a relationship-based philosophy of care that recognizes relationships as the foundation of healing and wellness, the program is built on the principles of mutual respect and trust, collaboration and partnership, understanding context, and reciprocity.

This role provides direct support to children, youth, and families through case management, behaviour support programming, individual counselling, parenting and family support, and therapeutic group programming. The Child & Youth Care Worker coordinates and integrates services from intake to discharge, ensuring children, youth, and families receive responsive, culturally grounded, and trauma-informed care. Working collaboratively with children, families, caregivers, community partners,



and multidisciplinary teams, the Child & Youth Care Worker develops and implements individualized support plans that promote social, emotional, behavioural, and cultural well-being.

Through one-to-one counselling, family and parenting interventions, behaviour support strategies, and group-based programming, the role strengthens resilience, enhances coping skills, fosters healthy relationships, and supports positive outcomes for children and youth within the context of their families, communities, and cultures.

Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or a related field
- An equivalent of education, training and experience may be considered
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children, youth, and families in community, mental health, child and family services, education, or related settings
- Ability to work flexible schedule
- Valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain)

Hours of Work: 32.5 weekly
