Child & Youth Therapist (RSW or RP)

Independent Contractor | Barrie, ON | $95–$102 per clinical hour

Michelle Harris & Associates is looking for a therapist to join our Barrie practice, focused on working with children, teens, and their families.

We’re specifically looking for someone who enjoys working with kids and understands that child therapy often looks a little different. Depending on the child, a session might involve talking, playing, creating, moving around, problem-solving, or working with a parent. Connecting with kids where they’re at is key to us.

Our practice supports clients with a range of concerns, including anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, behavioural challenges, trauma, self-esteem, family changes, and relationship difficulties.

This is an independent contractor position, with compensation ranging from $95–$102 per clinical hour, depending on experience and training.

Your schedule can be fairly flexible. We do ask that you are available to see clients in person for at least one evening each week, since after-school appointments are important for the families we work with.

What the role looks like:

Your caseload will primarily include children and youth, along with parents and caregivers when appropriate.

You’ll be responsible for providing psychotherapy, completing intakes and treatment planning, keeping your clinical notes and files up to date, and communicating with parents or other professionals involved in a child’s care when needed and with appropriate consent.

We take care of much of the behind-the-scenes work that comes with private practice, including:

- Marketing and referrals
- Scheduling through Jane App.
- Billing and payment processing (we offer direct billing to insurance)
- Administrative support
- Office space
- Practice systems and resources
- Opportunities for consultation and clinical support

Our goal is to make it easier for you to focus on your clients without having to manage every aspect of running a private practice on your own.

Who we're looking for:





You’ll need to be registered and in good standing with the CRPO or OCSWSSW, carry your own professional liability insurance, and provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check.

We’d particularly like to hear from therapists who have experience working with children and teens, although we’re also open to clinicians who have strong relevant training and are looking to build this area of their practice.

Experience or additional training in any of the following would be an asset:

- Play-based or child-focused therapy
- ADHD and behavioural concerns
- Anxiety and emotional regulation
- Trauma-informed therapy
- Parent coaching and caregiver support
- Working collaboratively with schools and other professionals

More than anything, we’re looking for someone who is comfortable with kids, can build a good relationship with parents, and brings warmth, flexibility, and good clinical judgment to their work. You don’t need to fit one particular therapeutic style. We want clinicians to use their own strengths and training while providing thoughtful, ethical care.
