Position Summary

Ajax Public Library is currently recruiting for one (1) temporary Cleaner position (part-time). Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of Safety and Operations and in a manner that is consistent with the Ajax Public Library’s overall visions and goals, the Cleaner is responsible for cleaning and maintaining Library facilities.

Education and Experience

· Secondary School diploma

· Minimum three months’ relevant cleaning experience

Preferred Skills

· Knowledge of proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures, operation of floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, and various cleaning equipment.

· Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal safety equipment and clothing.

Position Responsibilities

· Sweeps, washes and strips floors.

· Vacuums, empties garbage, washes windows and doors.

· Cleans washrooms, community rooms and common areas.

· Perform room set-up and take down for functions and programs and cleans room after function or program has ended.

· Liaises with the public to provide basic information regarding the facility.

· Other duties as assigned.
