Ajax Family Practice & Walk-In Clinic is seeking a Clinical Assistant to work closely with a family physician in a structured, physician-led primary care setting.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong medical or clinical background who is comfortable supporting patient care under physician supervision.

The Role The Clinical Assistant will support an established family physician and their patient roster, assisting with patient assessments, follow-ups, chronic disease monitoring, preventive care, documentation, and day-to-day clinical workflow.

Responsibilities

- Obtain patient histories and relevant clinical information
- Assist with preliminary patient assessments and physical examinations, where appropriate and permitted
- Support routine primary care visits, follow-ups, chronic disease monitoring, and preventive care
- Assist with medication reconciliation and collection of relevant clinical information
- Review and organize laboratory results, diagnostic reports, and consultations for physician attention
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in OSCAR EMR
- Coordinate referrals, investigations, and follow-ups as directed by the physician
- Provide patient education and reinforce physician-directed care plans and follow-up instructions
- Assist with office-based procedures where appropriately trained and supervised
- Recognize and promptly escalate concerning symptoms or findings to the supervising physician
- Support efficient patient flow and continuity of care
- Collaborate with physicians, administrative staff, pharmacy, and other members of the clinic team

Required

- Previous hands-on clinical experience in family medicine, primary care, general practice, or a similar setting
- Strong patient history-taking, clinical assessment, and documentation skills
- Strong knowledge of common primary care conditions, medications, and medical terminology
- Ability to recognize concerning clinical findings and appropriately escalate to the supervising physician
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with patients in a busy, physician-led environment
- Strong professionalism, reliability, organization, and attention to detail
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Experience with OSCAR EMR and/or Canadian primary care is an asset
