About Henderson Highway Medical Clinic

Henderson Highway Medical Clinic is a busy community medical clinic in Winnipeg providing primary and walk-in medical care. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Clinical Assistant to work directly under the supervision of our physician(s) and support the delivery of safe, efficient, patient-centred medical care.

This position is particularly suitable for an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has completed medical training and is eligible for, or currently registered as, a Clinical Assistant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).

Responsibilities

- Assist supervising physician(s) with patient assessments and clinical care.
- Obtain patient histories and perform appropriate physical examinations within the approved scope of practice.
- Assist with diagnosis and management under physician supervision.
- Perform and document clinical assessments accurately.
- Assist with minor procedures and treatments as directed and supervised by the physician.
- Order or assist with investigations as authorized within the approved practice description.
- Review test results and follow up with patients under physician direction.
- Prepare referrals, prescriptions and clinical documentation as authorized.
- Provide patient education and appropriate follow-up instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records.
- Communicate professionally with patients, physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
- Follow infection-prevention, patient-safety and privacy policies.
- Work strictly within the approved CPSM practice description and supervision arrangement.

Required Qualifications

- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an approved/accredited medical school,



or another qualification accepted by CPSM for Clinical Assistant registration.
- Eligible for or currently registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) as a Clinical Assistant.
- Successful completion of the NAC-OSCE or LMCC, as applicable to CPSM eligibility.
- Eligible to practise under a CPSM-approved Practice Description and Contract of Supervision with our supervising physician.
- Satisfy applicable CPSM English-language proficiency requirements.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong clinical judgment, professionalism and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy community/walk-in medical clinic.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous clinical experience in family medicine, primary care, emergency medicine or a walk-in clinic.
- Experience with minor procedures and common primary-care presentations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Important Regulatory Requirement

This position is for a Clinical Assistant working under physician supervision. The successful candidate must meet the applicable CPSM requirements and may practise only within the scope authorized by CPSM, including the approved Practice Description and Contract of Supervision.
