COMMENCING: As soon as can be arranged and will end June 30, 2027, or upon completion of the services to be provided.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The School Social Worker position is under the Teachers’ Collective Agreement and will follow the school calendar.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Clinical Services, this position will be required to provide supervision, including the assessment of clinical skills, for a provisionally certified clinician as required for permanent certification. The number of hours will be determined in the Letter of Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Supervision for Clinician Certification responsibilities:
- Provide professional supervision, mentorship, and guidance to assigned clinicians.
- Support clinicians in delivering high-quality assessment, intervention, consultation, and programming services
- Promote ethical practice and adherence to qualified standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable legislation.
- Foster reflective practice, clinical reasoning, and ongoing professional growth.
- Support effective caseload management, organization, and documentation practices.
- Review and provide feedback on clinical reports, records, and other professional documentation.
- Facilitate collaboration and effective communication with students, families, school teams, community partners, and
divisional staff.
- Encourage participation in professional learning and the integration of evidence-informed practices.
- Monitor and document clinician progress in accordance with supervision and certification requirements.
- Complete required supervision reports and maintain appropriate supervision records.
QUALIFICATIONS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Masters degree in Social Work.
- Permanent Manitoba School Clinician Certificate (Social Work)
- Five years (full-time equivalent)
experience as a School Social Worker, working with children (preferably in a school setting or
with the local Regional Health Authority).
- Member in good standing with the Manitoba College of Social Work.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Experience applying inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices.
- Strong communication, organization, and capacity-building skills that support staff learning and student access.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry.
- Respect In School or Commit To Kids certification.
- Review and comply with divisional policies and guidelines.
- Valid drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
