We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a Technology Architect (Azure specialty) for our public sector client. This role is 100% remote, Eastern time zone.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

The Senior Technology Architect will provide overall technical leadership for the Technology Management Plan (TMP) and MNR initiatives, leading the design, development, implementation, and governance of enterprise architecture solutions across complex, large-scale, distributed, and cross-platform environments.

This role will define and manage the target technical architecture across cloud, infrastructure, applications, data, security, integration, and communications while ensuring alignment with business objectives, enterprise standards, and government policies. The Technology Architect will also help guide modernization efforts, including the transition from legacy and on-premises solutions to cloud and hybrid platforms, with a robust focus on Microsoft Azure, DevOps, and enterprise integration.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, you will provide technical leadership and architectural direction for enterprise-scale technology initiatives, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with organizational standards. You will work closely with project teams, technical resources, business stakeholders, and enterprise architecture groups to deliver modern, integrated technology solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

- Develop, recommend, implement, and manage enterprise technical architectures spanning hardware, software, databases, networking, and cloud environments.
- Design solutions for large, distributed, multi-platform and cross-platform environments.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical architecture models, process models, and data models.
- Define enterprise architecture deliverables, technical roadmaps, and target-state architectures.
- Design and implement enterprise solutions using Microsoft Azure, including infrastructure, identity, networking, security, and governance services.
- Support Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines,



Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
- Integrate Azure services with enterprise applications, data platforms, and third-party solutions.
- Apply Azure landing zones, cloud adoption frameworks, and hybrid-cloud architecture patterns.
- Evaluate technology options and provide architecture recommendations aligned with business objectives and enterprise standards.
- Ensure solutions comply with applicable security, privacy, compliance, and enterprise architecture requirements.
- Assess technical risks, identify mitigation strategies, and provide expert technology guidance to stakeholders.
- Provide architecture direction, mentorship, and guidance to project teams and technical resources.
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate within Agile and DevOps delivery environments to meet project objectives and deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must-have:

- Experience developing, recommending, implementing, and managing enterprise technical architectures across hardware, software, databases, networking, and cloud environments.
- Extensive experience designing solutions within large, distributed, multi-platform environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise solutions in Microsoft Azure, including infrastructure, identity, networking, security, and governance services.
- Experience integrating Azure services with enterprise applications, data platforms, and third-party solutions.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues in cross-platform cloud environments.




- Technical leadership experience in the development and implementation of enterprise architectures.

Nice-to-have:

- Prior Ontario Public Service (OPS) or broader public-sector experience.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
- Knowledge of Azure landing zones, cloud adoption frameworks, and hybrid-cloud architecture patterns.
- Knowledge and experience applying ITIL-based operational processes and service management practices.
- Experience with systems analysis, application design, integration patterns, middleware, and gateways.
- Strong negotiation, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Location: Remote

Length: to March 31st, 2027 with possible extensions

PAY DISCLOSURE:

The average hourly pay range for this field is as follows:

- Junior: 0–5 years of experience in area of expertise — $90.00–$100/hour
- Intermediate: 6–9 years — $100–$110/hour
- Senior: 10+ years — $110–$125/hour

Compensation is commensurate with these standards; exceptions may apply based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
