Role Description This contract Cloud Architect role is based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, with a hybrid work arrangement that combines on-site collaboration and some work from home.

The Cloud

Architect will design and refine cloud solutions and reference architectures that align with business and technical requirements, focusing on scalability, security, and performance. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing existing infrastructure, defining cloud migration and modernization strategies, and working closely with engineering teams to guide implementation. The role involves selecting appropriate cloud services, designing integration patterns between systems, establishing best practices for reliability and cost optimization, and documenting architectures and standards.

Architect will also collaborate with stakeholders to validate solutions, address risks, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles.

Qualifications

- Strong background in AWS Solution Architecture and Architecture, with experience designing end-to-end cloud solutions for complex environments.
- Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure, including cloud networking, security, storage, and compute services on major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience in Software Development and Integration, including working with APIs, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless delivery and interoperability.
- Proficiency in cloud design patterns, optimization for reliability and cost, and implementation of security and compliance controls.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs, and to communicate architecture decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in hybrid and multi-cloud environments, and knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in cloud architecture.
- Previous experience in consulting or client-facing roles, with strong collaboration, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
