Our client, a leading organization in the building materials and manufacturing sector, is seeking a Production Shift Supervisor to join their team. As a Production Shift Supervisor, you will be part of the Production Operations team supporting plant performance, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, sound decision-making abilities, and a commitment to safety which will align successfully in the organization.

What’s the Job?

- Lead and supervise production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance while meeting quality and production targets.
- Promote a strong safety culture through inspections, daily safety discussions, hazard assessments, and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Monitor equipment and production processes, identify operational issues, and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance and operations teams.
- Support quality control initiatives and continuous improvement efforts to maximize plant performance and product quality.
- Maintain shift reports, work orders, and production documentation while ensuring compliance with operational, environmental, and safety standards.

What’s Needed?

- College diploma or university degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience within a unionized manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience leading frontline production teams in a continuous-process manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety, environmental regulations, root cause analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and make sound operational decisions.

Additional Role Details

- Rotating continental-style shift schedule.
- 12-hour shifts (scheduled 6:00 AM/PM to 6:00 PM/AM, typically closer to 5:30 to 5:30 to accommodate handovers).
- Supervisors are assigned to a specific crew and follow that crew's rotation.
- Directly supervises approximately 6 unionized employees .
- May oversee additional personnel during evenings, nights, and weekends, for a total shift team of fewer than 10 employees .
