Position Overview
Gunther’s Building Center is looking for a Construction Project Coordinator to join our growing team.
This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with numbers, and interested in developing a career in the construction and building materials industry.
You will help coordinate residential and commercial projects from the initial order and material requirements through delivery and installation. The role involves working with construction drawings, preparing material takeoffs, managing orders and project information, coordinating schedules, and communicating with customers, suppliers, installers, and our internal teams.
Previous blueprint or estimating experience is an asset, but not required. We are prepared to train the right candidate.
The position works across two key areas of our business:
- Interior Finishing: interior doors, mouldings, trim, hardware, and accessories
- Hollow Metal: commercial doors, frames, and architectural hardware
Key Responsibilities
- Learn to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints
- Complete material takeoffs and determine project requirements
- Prepare and manage quotes, work orders, and project documentation
- Coordinate materials, schedules, deliveries, and installations
- Track purchase orders, backorders, changes, and outstanding project requirements
- Communicate with builders, site supervisors, suppliers, and installers
- Work closely with our sales, warehouse, delivery, installation, and woodshop teams
- Assist with project pricing, adjustments, and change orders
- Identify potential project issues and help resolve them before they affect schedules
- Maintain accurate and organized project records
- Help ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently from order through installation
What We’re Looking For
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Comfortable working with measurements, quantities, and numbers
- Ability and willingness to learn blueprint reading and material takeoffs
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- A proactive approach to following up and keeping projects moving
Experience That Would Be an Asset Experience is not required in all of these areas, but backgrounds in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Construction or building materials
- Project coordination or project administration
- Estimating or material takeoffs
- Blueprint or construction drawing review
- Doors, hardware, millwork, lumber, or interior finishing
- Residential or commercial construction
Compensation & Performance Incentive This position offers a competitive base salary along with a monthly performance incentive tied to project coordination and successful project execution.
Expected Total Compensation: Approximately $45,000–$55,000 annually,
with the majority of compensation coming from base salary and a portion tied to performance incentives.
