Minimum completion of a one-year college diploma, or equivalent six months to one-year related experience.
What You’ll Do
Work as part of a team to produce the official reports of debates of the Ontario Legislature and its committees.
Demonstrate the utmost tact, diplomacy and good judgement in all interactions in a politically sensitive environment.
Transcribe substantially verbatim English and French transcripts of the House and its committees.
Attend legislative meetings to gather information to aid in the accurate preparation of Hansard reports.
Work as part of a team to solve problems and share information to meet strict deadlines.
How You Qualify
Minimum completion of a one-year college diploma, or equivalent six months to one-year of related experience.
Superior knowledge of written and spoken English and French; good listening and comprehension skills to convert speech to text, with superior grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and spelling skills; as well as fast and accurate keyboarding skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines, as well as flexibility to handle varying assignments.
Attention to detail, with the ability to quickly and reliably check facts and quotations.
Keen interest in and knowledge of current affairs.
Note
The majority of your work will be in English, but robust competence in both languages is a requirement.
Some evening work and occasional travel are required.
Transcription and grammar tests in English and in French are part of the selection process.
