Lawn & Garden Maintenance Crew Lead
Precision Grounds is looking for an experienced Lawn & Garden Maintenance Crew Lead to join our team.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who takes pride in doing things right, understands what a professionally maintained property should look like, and can lead a crew to consistently deliver high-quality lawn and garden maintenance.
We're looking for someone who doesn't just complete a list of tasks. We need a problem solver and leader who takes ownership of their properties, communicates professionally with clients and Property Managers, leads their crew effectively, and pays attention to the details that separate average work from excellent work.
What You'll Be Responsible For
As a Lawn & Garden Maintenance Crew Lead, you will be responsible for leading your crew and ensuring our properties are maintained safely, efficiently, and to Precision Grounds' quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include
- Leading and working alongside a landscape maintenance crew
- Organizing daily work and keeping your crew productive and on schedule
- Ensuring lawns, gardens and landscaped areas are maintained to our quality standards
- Lawn cutting, trimming, edging and blowing
- Leading and performing garden maintenance, including weeding, cultivating, deadheading, pruning and general garden care
- Maintaining clean, well-defined garden beds and landscaped areas
- Recognizing when gardens, shrubs and plant material require attention and ensuring the appropriate work is completed
- Directing and training crew members on proper garden maintenance techniques
- Identifying weeds, plant health concerns, overgrowth and other deficiencies that affect the appearance of a property
- Identifying property deficiencies and addressing them before they become client concerns
- Performing quality checks of lawns, gardens and landscaped areas before leaving each property
- Communicating professionally with Property Managers, homeowners and clients
- Responding appropriately to client questions, concerns and requests
- Troubleshooting issues in the field and making good decisions
- Training, coaching and providing direction to crew members
- Ensuring equipment is operated properly and cared for
- Maintaining a clean, organized and professional truck, trailer and work environment
- Following and enforcing company safety procedures
- Communicating property concerns, client requests and opportunities to management
What We're Looking For The right person for this position will have:
- Minimum 2 years of professional landscape / property maintenance experience
- Strong hands-on experience with both lawn and garden maintenance
- Previous crew leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of proper garden maintenance practices, including weeding, pruning, deadheading, cultivating and general plant care
- The ability to recognize when a lawn, garden or landscaped area isn't meeting expected standards
- Experience communicating with Property Managers and homeowners
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Pride in producing high-quality work
- The ability to lead by example and hold a crew accountable
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
- The ability to work independently without needing constant supervision
- A positive, professional attitude
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- A valid driver's licence and ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment
The Person We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you're the person who notices when something isn't right and takes care of it instead of walking past it.
You understand that being a Crew Lead means much more than knowing how to cut grass. You need to understand the entire property — lawns, gardens, shrubs, edges, hard surfaces and overall presentation — and know what needs attention.
You should be comfortable walking a property and identifying what needs to be done, then organizing and leading your crew to get it done properly and efficiently.
You take responsibility for your crew, your equipment, your properties and the quality of the finished product.
You communicate professionally with clients and Property Managers, stay calm when problems come up, and help your crew become better at what they do.
Most importantly, you take pride in being able to drive away from a property knowing the entire property looks its best and the job was done properly.
Why Join Precision Grounds?
We're looking for people who want to be part of a professional landscape maintenance team where quality, accountability, communication and leadership matter.
Winter employment opportunities are available. For team members interested in continuing with Precision Grounds through the winter season, available roles and responsibilities will be determined based on the individual's experience, skills and qualifications.
This is an opportunity for the right person to build a longer-term position with our team rather than simply looking for seasonal summer employment.
If you're an experienced landscape maintenance professional who's ready to take ownership of a crew and help deliver a consistently high standard of lawn and garden maintenance, we'd like to hear from you.
Apply today with your resume and tell us about your landscape maintenance and leadership experience.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
