Job Summary
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Crusher Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of crushing and screening equipment in both field and shop environments.
This is a hands-on, technical role focused on maximizing equipment uptime, ensuring reliable performance, and delivering high-quality service to customers operating in demanding production environments.
The Crusher Service Technician works independently or as part of a crew to diagnose issues, execute repairs, and support commissioning and rebuilds of crushing equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, field experience, and a commitment to safety, quality, and production performance.
A day in the life – Roles and Responsibilities
Crusher Maintenance & Repair:
· Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on jaw, cone, and impact crushers, as well as screening equipment and material handling systems.
· Replace and service wear components, including liners, mantles, concaves, blow bars, screens, and conveyor components.
· Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and operational issues affecting equipment performance.
· Execute rebuilds, overhauls, and component replacements to restore equipment to specification.
· Ensure all work is completed efficiently to minimize downtime.
Field Service & Troubleshooting:
· Travel to customer sites to perform service work in active production environments.
· Respond to breakdowns and troubleshoot issues under time-sensitive conditions.
· Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
· Support equipment commissioning, setup, and performance optimization.
· Work collaboratively with site personnel to coordinate service activities.
Technical Execution & Equipment Knowledge:
· Interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
· Perform measurements,
alignments, and adjustments to ensure proper crusher setup and operation.
· Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
· Provide technical feedback to Service, Engineering, and Parts teams.
· Maintain a strong working knowledge of crushing systems, processes, and best practices.
Tools, Equipment & Worksite Responsibility
· Maintain and operate service tools, lifting equipment, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
· Ensure proper rigging, lifting, and handling of heavy crusher components.
· Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment in both shop and field settings.
· Ensure all equipment and tools are inspected and maintained as required.
Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S;):
· Follow all company and site-specific safety policies and procedures.
· Conduct hazard assessments prior to performing work.
· Ensure safe work practices during lifting, confined space work, and high-risk maintenance activities.
· Use appropriate PPE and maintain safety awareness at all times.
· Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
Quality, Documentation & Continuous Improvement:
· Complete detailed service reports, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations.
· Ensure all work meets manufacturer and company quality standards.
· Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to equipment or processes.
· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety,
efficiency, and reliability.
Experience
Requirements – what you bring to Westridge Iron:
· Journeyperson certification or equivalent experience in heavy equipment repair, mechanical trades, or industrial maintenance.
· 3–5 years of experience working with crushing, screening, or similar heavy industrial equipment.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with hydraulic systems.
· Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment in field environments.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
· Experience working in mining, aggregate, or heavy industrial environments.
· Solid understanding of OH&S; regulations and safe work practices.

Certifications & Training:
· Heavy equipment technician certification (or equivalent).
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or higher, as required).

· Manufacturer-specific crusher training considered an asset.
Pay: $40.00-$60.00 per hour
