PS Consulters

Saskatchewan

About The Role

PS Consulters is building its security bench for resource-augmentation rosters and single-consultant placements with Saskatchewan public sector clients, including provincial technology and health-sector organizations.

These clients procure security capacity in two ways: named-consultant engagements for defined mandates (infrastructure security reviews, architecture work, program uplift) and standing rosters from which qualified resources are called up as needs arise, often repeatedly over several years. That procurement pattern makes this bench worth joining even without an immediate start date: once qualified into a roster, consultants are matched against call-ups as they land, and the same buyers return to the same rosters year after year. The work itself spans the practical middle of security: hardening real infrastructure, running vulnerability programs that actually close findings, and giving decision-makers advice they can act on.

Engagements are contracted hourly through PS Consulters at competitive market rates; applicants state rate expectations. Most work is remote; some mandates include on-site days in Saskatchewan, confirmed per engagement. Work is delivered in English.

This is an anticipated contract role tied to an active public sector procurement. Start dates depend on award and onboarding timelines. Qualified applicants are contacted as soon as the engagement is confirmed, and strong profiles are kept on file and matched against similar upcoming roles with consent.

Applications are reviewed by a practitioner, not a keyword filter; short, specific cover notes describing directly relevant work are read and valued.

PS Consulters welcomes applications from all qualified candidates, including members of visible minority communities, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and newcomers to Canada with eligible work status. Accommodation during the recruitment process is available on request.

About PS Consulters: PS Consulters is the consulting brand of PMS Analytics, a Canadian software consulting and resourcing firm. PS Consulters places senior technology contractors with public sector and enterprise clients across Canada and delivers software projects as a prime contractor.

The firm is built and run by practitioners: engagements are scoped by people who have done the work, candidates are represented accurately, and consultants in the field are supported by a principal who reviews deliverables and stands behind them.

Responsibilities

- Conduct infrastructure and network security assessments (firewalls, segmentation, identity, endpoint, cloud) and deliver prioritized hardening roadmaps
- Design and run vulnerability-management cycles: scanning, risk-based triage, remediation coordination, and verification
- Contribute to security architecture reviews for new systems and major changes
- Develop and update security policies, standards, and control frameworks aligned to recognized baselines
- Support incident response: containment advice,

post-incident analysis, and corrective-action tracking
- Advise on SIEM and monitoring improvements, detection coverage, and logging strategy
- Produce clear, decision-ready reporting for technical teams, management, and executives
- Operate within public sector confidentiality and data-handling obligations at all times

Requirements

- 5+ years in cybersecurity roles (analyst, consultant, or security engineer)
- Demonstrated infrastructure and network security depth, not solely GRC paper exercises
- Experience running or materially contributing to a vulnerability-management program
- Robust report writing and the ability to brief non-technical stakeholders credibly in English
- Ability to pass client security screening; a clean background is a practical requirement in this sector

Qualifications

- Legally eligible to work in Canada: Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid work permit
- Available as an incorporated (corp-to-corp) or T4 contractor
- Able to state hourly rate expectations and earliest availability date in the application
- Any existing government security screening should be noted in the application
- Able to travel for on-site days in Saskatchewan where a mandate requires

Nice to Have
- CISSP, CISM, or SANS/GIAC certifications
- SIEM operations or engineering experience (Sentinel, Splunk, or similar)
- Familiarity with public sector security frameworks (ITSG-33, CIS Controls, NIST CSF)
- Prior public sector or critical-infrastructure clients
- Existing government security screening at any level (an asset; note it in the application)
