Gierdown Farms Ltd, a modern robotic dairy operation located less than 10 mins north of Woodstock near Hickson is looking for a full time employee for hire immediately. Gierdown Farms milks 160 cows on Lely robotic stalls and operates a land base to provide feed to the herd. Hours are 30-50/week including weekend work, and can be somewhat flexible around the employees schedule if predetermined.

Experience not required, but an asset, willing to train a candidate who is eager to learn, tidy, trustworthy and can follow instructions

-G drivers license and own mode of transportation

-ability to work individually or as a part of a team

-punctuality

-mechanical experience

-ability to safely work around and handle cattle

-competent at safely operating small and large machinery in barns and fields

-physically able bodied

-ability to recognize animal behavior signs and monitor abormalities

Duties

-work days will regularly start around 7am (coming in for 6am occasionally) generally ending around 5pm. -Occasionally during planting and harvesting there will be extended day hours will be required to help later during the busy season,



but dinner provided

-routine work of scraping stalls, walkways

-cleaning and sanitizing barn equipment

-secure handling of cows, heifers and calves sorting, moving, loading

-feeding of individual calves and monitoring of group fed calves

-operating tractors and equipment for tillage, fertilizer application and harvesting of crops

-bedding pack pens and ensuring animals have a clean environment

-lawn mowing, landscaping and yard maintenance

-operating machinery regularly doing jobs in the barn, yard and field

-ability to maintain a clean and tidy work environment

-Maintaining and repairing a variety of equipment
