Has been serving London and Southwestern Ontario since 1979, supplying interior trim, doors, hardware, storage solutions, and related building products to residential home builders, renovation contractors, multi-family developments, commercial projects, and DYI customers.
About the Role:
The delivery Driver’s primary responsibility is to safety load, transport, deliver, and unload materials while providing exceptional customer service and ensuring products arrive accurately and damage-free. They also inspect the work truck to ensure the highest standards, report any issues promptly, and collaborate closely with dispatch supervisors to address any challenges. They work as a team and with their delivery helpers to meet customer demands and uphold our reputation for reliability and exceptional customer service.
This position is part of the Local 1072 Employee Group.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure successful delivery and meticulous unloading of materials to customer’s satisfaction.
- Conducts thorough checks on orders to guarantee precision and completeness.
- Organizes and secures loads to ensure safe transport.
- Performs daily Inspections of equipment. Ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
- Maintains accurate documentation and meticulously logs all deliveries for efficient record-keeping
- Collaborates effectively with assigned helpers to enhance delivery efficiency and service quality.
- Upholds cleanliness standards by diligently cleaning the truck after each trip, ensuring a professional presentation.
- Execute pickups of return products in accordance with established procedures and adherence to company standards.
- Assists with deliveries as a helper when required as to help meet business needs.
- Works in the yard when they are not assigned a delivery, or if they get back early from their delivery; stocking and retrieving warehouse, products, loading trucks, assist with deliveries, customer service, and general housekeeping tasks.
- Trains new hires, providing comprehensive instruction to helpers and delivery drivers to ensure smooth operations on the road.
- Communicates with the dispatch supervisors while out on deliveries and follows guidelines from supervisor.
- Works in a secure manner and follows all company policies and procedures and driving laws at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid G license
- Minimum 6-months experience driving trucks, preferably in building supply delivery.
- Must provide a clean Ontario Driver Abstract
- Must be able to provide letter from insurance company to confirm insurability for driving.
- Working at Heights training is required for certain delivery locations and will be provided to successful candidates.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
Environmental and Physical Working Conditions:
- Often working outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heart to extreme cold.
- Hand on work environment
- Regular travel to customer locations, including residential homes, commercial properties, construction sites, and high-rise buildings
- Frequent loading,
unloading and delivery of building materials in a variety of environments and site conditions.
Physical Demands:
- Strength(lift, carry, push and pull): Maximum lift 100 lbs; frequently lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, with manual dexterity and see acute depth perception and field of vision.
- Trunk rotation with 20lbs at arm’s length 180 degrees from side to side.
- Bend, stoop or squat to floor level on a repetitive basis.
- Reach over head to grasp materials
