Job Duties
Reporting to the Endpoint Compute & Desktop Services Manager, under the mentorship of the Team Lead, the Desktop Support Analyst role is to provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organization’s end-user computing environment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all end-user devices and equipment and academic labs to ensure optimal workstation performance.
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities And Experience
Specific Accountabilities
Endpoint Computing for customers and academic labs
- Deploy, configure, maintain, and support end user compute devices within an enterprise client management.
- Implement, configure, maintain, and support software, endpoint protection and patch management system for automation of these services.
- Implement processes and procedures to standardize and maintain IT enterprise images for computers to insure a consistent environment.
- Analyze technical requirements, develop, and maintain additional functionality and integrations as required.
- Provide intermediate level assistance by responding to questions, error reports, alerts, problems, and support escalations.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedural guides.
- Participate in extended support hours for system maintenance and planned processes as per the collective agreement.
- Utilize remote tools as necessary for task completion.
- First contact with end user skillset.
- Utilize phone, email, and other points of contact to accomplish tasks.
Knowledge & Expertise
- Maintain an advanced level of knowledge on current and emerging trends in functional area.
- Develop documentation, support procedure and ITS training for all services released and updated.
- Communicate, mentor, and share advanced knowledge with clients, team members and colleagues.
- Effectively utilize Service Desk and project management systems to accurately describe tasks and record time/effort.
- Hold to ITL standards for process and procedure performance.
Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
- Two-year Diploma in Information Technology (foreign education must have Canadian equivalency certification).
- One year experience within an enterprise information technology environment in a customer-support facing role.
- Demonstrated knowledge in providing technical and troubleshooting assistance related to technical hardware and software, peripherals, mobile devices and other tools and products within an enterprise information technology environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge in providing support and training through multiple communication channels including remote, phone, email, chat and in person, documenting those requests and solutions following established processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of service management, remote management, and client management tools.
- Effective analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Robust communication and facilitation skills.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Solid customer focus.
- Ability to collaborate and work well with teams with a high level of initiative and motivation.
