The Government of Yukon seeks a Legal Counsel to enhance judicial support in Whitehorse. This position requires a focus on litigation and provides significant legal advisory services.In this permanent and full time role, you will serve as in-house counsel for the Yukon Courts, navigating complex legal terrains while supporting both the Chief Justice and Chief Judge. Your role will also involve supervising judicial assistants and collaborating on legal matters requiring a sensitive and informed approach, particularly those involving Indigenous rights and history.Key Responsibilities:Provide legal expertise to Yukon CourtsAddress complex and precedent-setting legal issuesSupervise a team of judicial support staffOffer guidance on procedural mattersEngage in independent legal research and developmentRequirements:Proven experience in litigation and solicitor lawGood standing with the Law Society of YukonBilingualism in English and French is preferredKnowledge of First Nations history and reconciliationExcellent written and oral communication skillsJoin a dedicated team at the Government of Yukon and play a pivotal role in the judiciary's legal processes.#J-18808-Ljbffr
