Director of Franchise Development

Location: Home Office (Remote/Hybrid) – The ideal candidate has easy access to the GTA.

Travel: Approximately 30–50% across Canada

Reports To: Executive Vice President (EVP)

As we continue to expand our national footprint, we are seeking an experienced Director of Franchise Development to lead the growth of our franchise network by identifying, recruiting, qualifying, and selling franchises to people who ‘fit’ our model.

Position Summary The Director of Franchise Development is responsible for driving the strategic growth of the Colorworks franchise network across Canada, specifically concentrated in Ontario and the GTA/400 and 401 Hwy corridors. This role leads the franchise sales process from lead generation through franchise award while ensuring every prospective franchisee aligns with the company's culture, values, and long-term vision.

Working closely with the Executive Vice President, President & CEO, Marketing Team, and Operations Team, the Director will build relationships with prospective franchisees, manage the franchise development pipeline, coordinate discovery meetings, evaluate candidates, and oversee the successful transition into onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

Franchise Development & Sales

- Develop and execute the company's franchise growth strategy.
- Generate qualified franchise leads through multiple marketing and networking channels.
- Build relationships with prospective franchise owners and multi-unit operators.
- Conduct introductory discovery calls and franchise presentations.
- Manage the franchise sales pipeline using the company's CRM.
- Guide prospects through each stage of the franchise recruitment process.
- Present the Colorworks franchise opportunity professionally and consistently.
- Coordinate Discovery Days and executive meetings with prospective franchisees.
- Prepare franchise proposals and growth recommendations.
- Negotiate franchise opportunities while maintaining company standards.
- Achieve annual franchise sales and development targets.

Candidate Qualification

- Evaluate franchise candidates for financial capability, leadership skills, business experience, and cultural fit.
- Conduct structured interviews and behavioural assessments.




- Coordinate personality and leadership assessments where required.
- Review business plans and financial qualifications.
- Provide recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team regarding candidate approval.
- Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the selection process.

Franchise Growth Strategy

- Identify target markets across Canada.
- Analyze market demographics and growth opportunities.
- Develop recruitment strategies for current and existing markets.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor franchise activity.
- Recommend improvements to franchise recruitment systems and processes.
- Participate in annual strategic planning.

Marketing & Lead Generation Working with the Marketing Team:

- Develop franchise recruitment campaigns.
- Attend trade shows, business expos, and networking events.
- Build relationships with business brokers and industry partners.
- Leverage digital marketing and AI search optimization to increase franchise inquiries.
- Create referral programs for existing franchisees.
- Measure campaign effectiveness and return on investment.

Relationship Management

- Build long-term relationships with prospective franchisees.
- Provide timely communication throughout the sales process.
- Coordinate meetings between prospects and executive leadership.
- Maintain qualified communication with lawyers, financial institutions, landlords, and external advisors when required.
- Represent Colorworks with professionalism and integrity.

Franchise Award & Onboarding

- Coordinate franchise agreement execution.
- Ensure all required documentation has been completed.
- Assist with site selection and development handoff.
- Coordinate the transition from franchise sales to operations.
- Support new franchisees through the onboarding process until operational teams assume responsibility.

Reporting & Administration

- Maintain accurate CRM records.
- Prepare weekly franchise development reports.
- Track key performance indicators including:
- Lead generation
- Discovery meetings
- Candidate conversions
- Franchise sales
- Market development
- Present monthly reports to the Executive Team.
- Manage franchise development budgets.

Leadership Responsibilities The Director of Franchise Development will:

- Lead the franchise development function with professionalism and accountability.
- Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
- Promote the Colorworks culture and values.
- Continuously improve franchise recruitment processes.




- Mentor and coach future franchise development team members as the network grows.

Qualifications

Required

- 5+ years of franchise development, franchise sales, or business development experience.
- Proven success selling franchise opportunities or multi-location business concepts.
- Strong consultative sales skills.
- Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
- Experience managing a CRM system.
- Strong business acumen and financial literacy.
- Ability to travel throughout Canada.
- Valid driver's license and passport.

Preferred

- Experience within the automotive, collision repair, automotive aftermarket, or franchise industries.
- Experience evaluating financial statements and business plans.
- Knowledge of Canadian franchise legislation.
- Experience working with personality or leadership assessments.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.

- Competitive base salary starting at $90K, largely dependent on experience.
