About 12 Neighbours
12 Neighbours is a human development organization committed to helping people overcome poverty, homelessness, and other barriers to full, healthy, independent lives — and to helping build a healthy, flourishing community. Our approach is trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, identity-rooted, person-centred, and strengths-based (T.R.I.P.S.), and it shows up in the way we support our neighbours and the way we work together as a team.
Our Saint
John sites offer more than a place to stay: they're places where people can reconnect with stability, dignity, and belonging. We lead with our core values — Safety First, Wise Stewardship, Development, Gentleness, and Joy — in everything we do.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Housing to lead the business development, partnerships, and day-to-day operational success of our transitional housing communities across Saint John. As 12 Neighbours continues to grow in the city, this is an exciting time to step into a senior leadership role and help shape what that growth looks like. This role oversees staffing, financial management, and local collaborations, and is ideal for someone with strong management skills who can balance operational needs with team support — all while bringing a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to working with individuals who have experienced homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Neighbourly Homes' business development, services, and partnerships in the Saint John community
- Oversee the implementation and day-to-day operational execution of our transitional housing communities across Saint John
- Manage staffing, site operations, SOP development, and performance management systems
- Lead financial management across sites, including budgeting and forecasting
- Coordinate and build relationships with local systems, agencies, and service providers
- Uphold high standards of trauma-informed, inclusive, and low-barrier community living
What You Bring
- Proven experience in a leadership or management role, ideally within housing, social services, or a related nonprofit setting
- A genuine, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach to working with individuals exiting homelessness or facing mental health and substance use challenges
- Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting and forecasting
- Comfort building and maintaining partnerships with local service providers, agencies, and community stakeholders
- Excellent people leadership skills, with the ability to balance operational demands with team support
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset and alignment with 12 Neighbours' mission and values
Why Join Us You'll be part of a mission-driven team doing meaningful, tangible work in the Saint John community — helping build a place where people can reconnect with stability, dignity, and belonging. You'll have the opportunity to shape the operations and culture of our growing transitional housing communities from a position of real leadership and impact, as 12 Neighbours expands its presence across Saint John.
