About the Position
Cordax Evaluation Technologies Inc. is seeking an experienced Director of Quality Assurance Engineering to provide senior engineering, technology, quality, and operational leadership within our Calgary-based organization.
This is a senior management position responsible for overseeing the development, advancement, commercialization, deployment, lifecycle management, operational reliability, and continuous improvement of Cordax’s proprietary oilfield measurement and logging technologies.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and technical leadership across engineering and operational activities, including Cordax’s proprietary Logging While Tripping technology and related tools and services.
This role requires a highly experienced engineering professional with substantial field knowledge, progressive leadership experience, and the ability to lead complex technical projects and multidisciplinary teams in Canada and international markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the development, advancement, commercialization, and deployment of proprietary oilfield measurement and logging technologies.
- Lead engineering and technology initiatives associated with Cordax’s Logging While Tripping technology and related proprietary tools.
- Oversee the operational performance, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement of products, equipment, and technical systems.
- Establish engineering, quality, and operational standards to support consistent equipment reliability and technological performance.
- Direct technology lifecycle management for proprietary tools, equipment, and high-value technical assets.
- Identify technical and operational risks and lead corrective and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate existing technologies and recommend modifications, upgrades, improvements, or replacement strategies as required.
- Provide senior technical direction throughout product and technology development, from initial evaluation through commercialization and operational deployment.
- Lead and support complex engineering and operational projects in Canada and international markets.
- Ensure engineering and technology activities are coordinated to meet customer requirements, operational needs, and critical project deadlines.
- Provide senior technical support in resolving operational issues affecting technology performance, project execution, or customer commitments.
- Contribute to organizational strategy involving engineering priorities, technology investment, asset reliability, operational capabilities, and future development.
- Support the expansion of Cordax technologies and services into Canadian and international markets.
- Promote engineering solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary equipment use, rig time, energy consumption, water use, and environmental impact where technically feasible.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to engineers, technologists, operators, geoscientists, and other technical personnel.
- Provide and coordinate technical training involving technology lifecycle management, asset reliability, sustainability practices, and operational excellence.
- Support technical knowledge transfer and professional development throughout the organization.
- Work collaboratively with senior management, engineering, operations, technical support, commercial personnel, customers, and other stakeholders.
These responsibilities are consistent with the employer support letter, which identifies technology development, commercialization, advancement of proprietary tools, operational performance and reliability, project execution, and technical knowledge transfer as key components of the role. Education and Experience RequirementsRequired
- Degree in engineering or another closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional engineering experience in the oilfield services, energy technology, drilling, measurement, logging, or a closely related technical environment.
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience, including increasing levels of leadership, supervisory, managerial, or technical management responsibility.
- Demonstrated progressive management and leadership experience appropriate to a senior Director-level position.
- Significant experience with oilfield measurement technologies, logging tools, drilling environments, or related energy technologies.
- Experience managing complex engineering, technology, or operational projects.
- Demonstrated experience in technology lifecycle management and high-value technical asset management.
- Experience with equipment reliability, quality assurance, operational performance, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Experience managing competing priorities, technical risk, and critical customer or project deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly within Canada and internationally.
- Ability and willingness to perform frequent field visits at customer and operational sites.
Assets
- A relevant postgraduate degree, including a Master’s degree, MBA, engineering-related graduate degree, or another advanced credential relevant to the position.
- Previous experience in a senior engineering management, Director, Head of Engineering, technology leadership, or comparable role.
- Experience with commercialization and deployment of proprietary oilfield technologies.
- International oilfield services or energy-sector experience.
- Experience working with customers and operational teams across multiple countries or regions.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
- Fluency in Spanish.
Language Skills English proficiency is required for this position.
Because Cordax operates internationally and serves customers in multiple markets, French and Spanish language skills are considered valuable assets.
Candidates who are bilingual in English and French, and particularly candidates who are also fluent in Spanish, will be considered favourably due to the position’s interaction with customers, personnel, and business partners operating in French- and Spanish-speaking countries.
Working Conditions
This is a senior operational and engineering leadership position requiring substantial in-person involvement with Cordax’s engineering, technical, and customer-facing activities.
- The position is based in Calgary, Alberta.
- This is an on-site position.
- The successful candidate must be physically present at Cordax’s office or at customer and operational locations as required.
- Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available for this position due to the operational, engineering, supervisory, equipment, and field-based nature of the role.
- Regular travel within Canada is required.
- International travel is required to support customers, projects, technical activities, and business operations.
- Frequent visits to client sites, operational locations, and field environments are required.
- The position may require travel on relatively short notice depending on operational or customer requirements.
- The employee must be comfortable working in office, technical, industrial, field, and customer-site environments.
- Work schedules may occasionally need to accommodate operational requirements, project deadlines, customer needs, travel schedules, or activities occurring across different time zones.
- The role involves regular interaction with technical personnel, customers, executives, operations teams, and other stakeholders in Canada and internationally.
