TMSI Ltd – Dartmouth, NS

TMSI Ltd is a container transportation company based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, specializing in commercial cargo transportation between Atlantic Canada and Newfoundland. We are currently seeking a Dispatcher to join our Dartmouth office.

About the Role The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating daily driver schedules, planning routes, maintaining accurate dispatch records, and supporting the overall efficiency of our transportation operations. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

- Schedule drivers for freight deliveries, pickups, and shipments
- Plan predetermined routes and accommodate route changes as required
- Monitor driver routes and make adjustments to schedules as needed
- Maintain accurate records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, and delivery and pickup times
- Prepare dispatch documentation, freight bills, and invoices
- Provide assistance and support to management and staff
- Work closely with drivers, customers, and internal team members to ensure efficient operations
- Cross-train on other operational duties to provide coverage during vacation and absences
- Assist with day-to-day administrative and operational tasks as required

Qualifications & Requirements

- Previous experience in a dispatch and planning role, preferably with a mid-sized fleet
- Valid driver's license
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable working with database management systems and transportation software

- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team
- Ability to remain calm and productive while working under pressure
- Self-directed, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Positive and professional attitude
- French language skills are considered an asset
- Container transportation and/or marine industry experience is considered an asset
