Insite Surveys is seeking experienced Drafter / CAD Operators to join our growing team. This is a fully remote position supporting projects in Alberta. You will work closely with survey crews, project managers and clients to produce accurate, high-quality layout files and drafting deliverables. Candidates should possess strong drafting skills, familiarity with industry-standard CAD tools, and a dedication to precision and accuracy in technical design.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed drawings and models using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Process and organize field survey data (produce surfaces, accuracy reports, project turnover packages)
- Generate plan/profile drawings, layout files and various as-built drawings
- Collaborate with surveyors and clients to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Maintain CAD standards, templates, and file organization
- Perform quality control checks on drawings and data
- Volume calculations and surface analysis
- Create project files from engineering design packages
Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of survey data workflows and civil design principles
- Experience working in oil & gas or heavy civil projects
- Proficiency with surfaces, alignments, and corridor modeling in Civil 3D
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Knowledge of civil engineering or construction processes is preferred
- Ability to interpret complex design concepts and communicate effectively with team members
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Occasional weekend work in a rotating schedule (overtime paid according to provincial labour standards)
- Residing in or /- 1hr to Mountain Standard Time
- Candidates must reside in Canada and be legally allowed to work
