Representative Duties
- Collaborate with beamline scientists to develop and implement data analysis and machine learning algorithms for diffraction, spectroscopy, imaging, and other beamline techniques.
- Provide the CLSI user community with robust and curated data-analysis workflows to maximize scientific output.
- Analyze large and complex datasets from synchrotron beamlines using Python or other relevant programming languages.
- Develop and maintain data processing pipelines for integration, reduction, and quality assurance.
- Work closely with beamline teams to optimize data acquisition, processing protocols, and data quality.
- Develop and maintain or adopt data visualization tools to effectively communicate analytical results.
- Stay current with emerging data analysis and machine learning techniques and apply them to improve research outcomes.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field is required.
- Masters degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline with a focus on scientific data analysis and machine learning is not required but would be an asset.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience developing and implementing data analysis and machine learning algorithms using Python or other relevant languages.
- OR a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience with a Masters degree.
- OR a minimum of 1 year of related experience with a recently completed Ph.D.
- Demonstrated experience working with large, complex scientific datasets is considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Solid programming skills in Python or comparable languages.
- Experience with data analysis, machine learning, and scientific computing.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
