Summary

Sheehy Enterprises is an agricultural dealership that provides multiple services to the Maritimes. The job advertised is not your normal electrical job. We are currently looking for an entry-level apprentice electrician/farm equipment technician who is hard-working, dedicated, and enjoys technical and electrical work in an agricultural setting.

In particular we need an apprentice to assist a journeyman electrician/farm technician with their duties. This position’s primary responsibilities will be split between two primary tasks of electrical installations, electrical service calls and maintenance and installation of milking parlors, automated milking systems/robotics in the province of Nova Scotia. Secondary responsibilities include working on other farm equipment including but not limited to ventilation systems, control panels, etc.

Below is a list of what we are looking for:

Responsibilities

- Installation of GEA milking systems, parlors and robotics, and other farm equipment
- Install electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting fixtures and other electrical components

-Interpret electrical code specifications
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of electrical or farm equipment installations
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, replacement parts, and supplies
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team depending on the task




- On-call service work, including weekends and evenings on a rotating schedule. Only start once you get comfortable with the systems we service

Qualifications
- Highschool diploma preferred
- Mechanical aptitude with a “jack-of-all-trades” skill set; trouble-shooting different types of systems.
- Understanding of any of the following: electrical components, welding, vacuum systems, wash systems, hydraulics, refrigeration, and/or PLC’s are all considered assets

Requirements
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Computer literate with Windows 10, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Previous experience within an agricultural setting is an asset (preferably dairy farming)
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with customers and coworkers
- Self starter; ability to adapt quickly and effectively

- Troubleshooting and analytical skills

All the tools needed for the job are provided. Work cell phone is also available. After time a work truck is available once trained for on-call work. Pay starts at $24/hr and is dependent on experience.
